SchoolsThere is increasing evidence that learning an instrument and singing contribute to a child’s all round development.
Through Southwark Music Service, every child in your school can experience inclusive, high quality music making and enjoy performing. We can help you to create successful learners who are responsible, confident individuals. We work with teachers and pupils across the borough of Southwark, tailoring music lessons and activities to the needs of individual schools. We offer whole class instrumental tuition, known as Wider Opportunities, in voice; recorder; stringed instruments; brass instruments; African drumming; ocarinas; samba and jazz. At secondary level we run a whole class ‘Musical Futures’ programme where young people learn to play guitar; bass guitar; drum kit or keyboards and play in bands. New for this year we are now able to provide music curriculum lessons at
primary level. One of our senior tutors will teach all your classes
and lead singing assemblies and small instrumental groups as required.
This service can be purchased by the 10 week term at a daily rate of
£220 and includes full Southwark Music Service support.
We supply all the instruments and expert tutors who can work independently in the classroom or alongside school staff. We take time to talk to headteachers, heads of department, music co-ordinators and individual class teachers to fully understand the musical needs and aspirations of each school. Our extended schools activities include a range of workshops, choirs and drama activities. Wherever we work, we contribute to the musical life and well being of the school and its community. We create successful learners who grow in confidence as they gain new social and technical skills to play, sing, perform and lead each other. |
If you have a special project or event coming up in your school, music and singing will give it even more of an impact and make it truly memorable. Whatever you want to do - mark anniversaries, celebrate success and achievements, enrich projects and theme weeks or mark the arrival or departure of members of staff and pupils – we can advise so contact us now.
