‘Southwark Sings’ is a fun-filled, interactive weekly music session for children aged 0-5 and their parents/carers who are based in Southwark. The project ran in partnership with Margaret’s Music from September 2021 to July 2022, and was aimed at families who might otherwise face barriers to accessing music making opportunities.
The sessions were fully-funded for participants and helped to encourage development of musical and communication skills, as well as strengthening community links through shared musical experiences. As part of the project, we created a new resource of songs from the cultures of the families taking part and created recordings of these songs for the families to keep after the project finished.
