This May half term will see the return of the Southwark Training Orchestra. Formed several years ago, STO served as a fantastic feeder group for our more advanced orchestra. With the subsequent formation of the weekly Southwark Creative Orchestra and the Animate Orchestra that runs contemporary and inclusive holiday courses across the South Riverside Music Partnership boroughs, STO has taken something of a back seat for a while. We feel that there is now room to re-introduce STO once more. This will give our Gr2-4 standard players who are not quite ready to join SYO an opportunity to work as a traditional orchestra, to build their skills and confidence in this area with focus on a range of repertoire (classical and contemporary), to improve their sight-reading and understanding of musical notation and experience of working with an orchestral conductor. It's a lot of fun, join us this May half term. Apply!
