Our Saturday Centres are open on Saturday mornings during term time for children in school Years 3 to 6. Everyone who joins learns one or more instruments, plays in groups and bands, and develops all round skills as a musician. The centres offer instruments on loan for free.
If you would like to apply for a place at one of our Saturday Centres, download an application form here or contact Malcolm Milner at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We currently run two centres:
Southwark STAX at St Thomas the Apostle College in Holllydale Rd, SE15 2EB
Southwark BLUE NOTE which is held at Surrey Square Infants School,
Surrey Square, SE17 2JY
The centres run from 9.25am until 12.30pm for 30 Saturdays of the year, during term time. Children who attend must also be pupils at schools in the borough of Southwark.
Instrumental Lessons available at the Saturday centres include:
Children who go on to play an instrument in Year 7 and above may also be invited to join our BLUE BLAST centre for performers, which is also based at Coburg Primary School on a Saturday morning.
I’ve played the saxophone and I play different instruments like percussion and gamelan. It’s good and I really enjoy it. You can have fun and see your friends.
“I didn’t really know what a cello was and when I started I thought it would just be for fun but then it became something big all of a sudden. I really liked it.”
“The tutors are fantastic – so much energy and enthusiasm. It’s people working together and bringing the best out of every child. Everybody is given opportunities a to perform and it’s very moving to watch.”

“It’s a wonderful centre where children can express themselves and find a love of music. To begin with my son was kind of quiet and a bit shy, but now he is really outgoing. The teachers are so encouraging.”
